5 things to do in Dublin before drinking a Guinness Pint.
Today I’m going to share 5 things to do in Dublin before drinking a Guinness pint. The pubs are very important in Ireland, I remember one friend that told me ” If you ask me about one street in this city, maybe I wont know where it is, but say me which pub is in this street and I’ll guide you untill there”.
1-Trinity College and Library ”book of kells”
Built in the city center, the Trinity college is one of the best places in Ireland to visit, there you can see the oldest and most prestigious Irish University . It’s free entrance, you can see the building where people as James Joyce studied .
Also you can see statues guarding the green grass, perfect gardens for the students and the visitors. Do not forget to visit the Library, one incredible building in this university, there you can see the Book Of Kells, the most important book in the Irish literature.
2- Kilmanhao Prision
I’ve visited several times, but I remember my uncle ”I’ve never thought that I’m going to pay for visit a Jail” this was the sentence before entry to the prision and in the end he said me ” Thank you, this is an incredible place, great experience”.
This prison means a lot for Irish citizens, here the heroic were tortured because they wanted an independent Ireland (in this time was part of the UK Empire) . This prision opened in 1780 untill 1920.
3- Explore the city center
Walk around O’Connell Street , the main street, there you will find historical buildings and the famous monument of light, a proud for the city, is the world’s tallest public art .
Discover the bridges over the Liffey river , one of the best things about Dublin are their bridges, in my opinion the most beautiful was designed by Santiago Calatrava.
4- St Stephen Green Park / Phoenix Park
There are more parks in Dublin but these are the most important. St Stephen green is in the heart of the city, near the main shopping street, it’s small but very beautiful, there you will find some animals.
Phoenix Park is the biggest public park in Europe, animals as stags are waiting for you in this place, I really recommend you to rent a bike, the best way to explore and discover this place. Also there are statues and buildings, and the most important building is the house of the Irish president.
5- Visit the Guinness Store House.
Are you interested in beer? If the answer is yes… Guinness store house is your place, an incredible building where the main actor is this black beer. Looks like a great pub but it’s a museum, while you are walking in the different floors you can learn about the ingredients and everything that they need to prepare this famous and international beer.
In the last floor you can find the Gravity bar, there it’s the best place to drink the first pint in Dublin, a 360 panoramic view on the roof.
